Water…another myVillage project Uganda Missions 2012

“Quenching the thirst of the Bagisu people”

Our team exists to quench the thirst of the Bagisu people with clean, potable drinking water, and the living water of Jesus and His Spirit.

Who are the Bagisu?

Uganda has been ravaged for more than 40 years by war, famine, disease, and death. The Bagisu tribe of Eastern Uganda live in some of the most impoverished conditions in the world. Dysentary and other diseases that stem from contaminated water are killing these people by the thousands leaving children orphaned and homeless. They need medical care, they need education, they need opportunity, and they need WATER.

How do you plan to provide them with clean water?

We’re partnering with OneCity Ministries by sending a team in early May 2012 to help the Bagisu build underground cisterns used to store rain water. The water is then processed through inexpensive bio-filters that use sand and rock to purify the water to 99% purity. The people are being educated to build their own cisterns and to manufacture the bio-filters themselves.

What is the living water?

We believe that more than all the foreign aid in all the world, what the Bagisu people need most is to believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and that what God says about them is absolutely true.  The only hope for a world that is sick and dying is the living water that came to us by the sacrifice of Christ.  And we will share it with them!

OneCity Ministries has established a relationship with this tribe, and will continue to cultivate the their relationship with Jesus long after our team returns home.
