Accepting Jesus is the first step in living a transformed, eternal life. But, what comes next? If there is a first step, there has to be a next step, right? Below are some things that will help you to start growing in your relationship with Jesus.
š Live with the peace and power of knowing that Jesus loves you.
Start to see yourself the way God sees you. This can be difficult because we usually define ourselves by what we have done wrong. But, God loves us because of who He is, not because of who we are. He made you, and He wants you to live free from guilt and doubts about your worth.
āØ Invite Jesus into your everyday life.
Don’t live as though Jesus is just a part of your life. Instead, begin to invite Him to be with you in every interaction, every relationship, even every thought you have throughout the day.
š§± Build on a solid foundation.
The foundation of anything… a bridge, a building, or your faith… determines the height it can reach. As a believer and follower of Jesus, our foundation is the Bible. Start to read God’s Word. Download the Bible app for your smart device and begin reading in the book of John. It will reveal more of who Jesus really is. Then, read the rest of the Gospels, Matthew, Mark and Luke.
š Pray.
Jesus taught His disciples to pray in Matthew 6:5-14. You can start by praying the prayer in that scripture each day. Prayer is simply a conversation with God. Begin by thanking God. Let Him know you are grateful for your life, family, friends, and the opportunities He has provided. Then, talk to Him about where you need His strength in your life. Whatever your situation, learn how to put it in His hands through prayer.
