Worship Team Application
We are so excited that you’re interested in joining the Worship Team at theChapel! Please fill out the form below to begin the process!
• Love God
Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15 NIV
When you are placed on the schedule for a service you become an important part of what God wants to accomplish on the weekends. Itβs important to prepare for your role and the very first thing we want you to do is to seek God at another level.
This spiritual preparation must be a priority in your life. This done through prayer, reading the Bible, worshipping through the set, asking God to speak to you and listening to what he says, resting mentally, emotionally, and physically and reconciling any area of your life that is spiritually unhealthy. We believe that what God wants to do on the weekends has to happen in you personally before it happens through you.
Nope, itβs not a typo. We mean it like we wrote it. The most important qualification for joining this team is not your musical ability. Itβs actually your heart for passionately worshipping God.
We know that having a level of musical proficiency is important but it will never be more important than your ability to pursue God in a way that causes others to want to follow. Your biggest asset is your heart. Your biggest contributions are your example and your worship!
• Love People
Work hard so you can present yourself to God and receive his approval. Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15
Leadership implies that you are at the front of the line, and that the people are behind you. Imagine you were on a wilderness hike with a tour guide who had never been there before. Howβs your level of confidence in that situation? The people of our church count on us to introduce them to experience Christ. That means we have to firstβ¦have experiences with Christ.
For leaders at theChapel, the expectation is that you are spending time in the Word for yourself. We should be engaged in worship regularly. We pursue righteousness and victory over even the thorniest weeds in our lives by the power of the Holy Spirit. We lead by example by getting our hands dirty on ministry work. We volunteer before we ask someone else to volunteer. We keep our eyes focused on the community around us and the world weβre called to reach for the Kingdom.
To lead, you have to go first because it canβt happen through you until it happens in you.
I amΒ the good shepherd.Β The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. Β The hired hand is not the shepherd and does not own the sheep. So when he sees the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away.Β Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters it. John 10:11-12
Just as we have a good Shepherd who takes care of His flock, we use that example to do our very best to take care of Godβs most prized-possession: His people. Before you are a singer or a musician, you are a man/woman of God and we care about that way more than any note you will ever sing/play!
When you join the GO Team at theChapel, we utilize a Care System to cultivate relationships and promote spiritual health in our lives and ministry! Through the care structure, you will be connected with a Team Leader who will care for you, pray with you and check-in with you! We care way more about YOU than what you do!
• Pursue Excellence
Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes.Β Rather, it should be that of your inner self,Β the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in Godβs sight. 1 Peter 3:3-4
Here are just a few quick tips to keep you looking stylish and keep the focus on Jesus! Please wear nice, stylish, un-wrinkled clothing. Pants and button down shirts or v-necks are preferred for men. Pants, long skirts, and nice shirts are preferred for women. No printed tees, opened toed shoes, shorts, ripped jeans, hats, or anything low cut or tight please. Everyone please remember the sight lines that the height of our stage creates. Our lower abdomen and upper thigh area are directly in the audiences eye line. Please use appropriate coverage of that area both in front and behindβ¦literally. π
For the best presentation of our livestream service, please refrain from clothing, shoes and guitar straps (or using guitar cables) that are the following colors: white, bright colors, or tight printed patterns (i.e. Herringbone). The less of a distraction that we can be, the more people will look at Jesus!
Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken,Β let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe. Hebrews 12:28
Rehearsal is mandatory without exception for those who are scheduled for the upcoming weekend. For most people, this time has become their Connect Group, which is another high value at theChapel.
Thursday nights are essential because we spend time together in Godβs word, we pray for one another, we prepare technically and the last 30 minutes are spent with the sole intention of passionately seeking Him. We take this time to train ourselves to not be so concerned with the right notes so that personally seeking Him can become the only goal.
Our confidence that God will move on the weekends comes from the fact that God already moved at rehearsal.
• Choose Joy
When you are on theChapel stage you have influence over people. That influence makes you a leader. Leadership always requires a level of commitment, priority, and sacrifice.
This is why itβs so important to pray about joining this team and to ask God to show you what He wants you to do in this season of your life. Leading people is a big responsibility and can be difficult to navigate sometimes. The best way to meet this worthwhile challenge is to start with the assurance that God has called you to lead and serve in this way. Once you know God has spoken, it gives you all the faith you need succeed.
Knowing that He has called you also helps you set your level of commitment, priority, and sacrifice. This is not a hobby, itβs a holy calling!
